2

Basis of Classification

📊 Body Level Organisation

Hierarchical arrangement — smallest से entire organism तक। 5 main levels:

Cell
Tissue
Organ
Organ System
Organism
3

Basis of Symmetry

🔵 Asymmetrical

कोई symmetry नहीं होती।

E.g.: Porifera (Sponges)

🔴 Radial Symmetry

Central axis से गुजरने वाला कोई भी plane organism को दो equal halves में divide करता है।

E.g.: Coelenterata, Echinodermata

🟡 Bilateral Symmetry

सिर्फ एक plane से divide होता है — left और right halves।

E.g.: बाकी सभी (Most animals)

4

Basis of Germ Layers

2️⃣ Diploblastic

  • सिर्फ 2 germ layers
  • Ectoderm (बाहरी) + Endoderm (भीतरी)
  • E.g.: Porifera, Coelenterate, Ctenophora

3️⃣ Triploblastic

  • 3 germ layers
  • Ectoderm + Mesoderm (बीच की) + Endoderm
  • E.g.: बाकी सब (Platyhelminthes से Chordata तक)

🍽️ Basis of Digestive System

❌ Incomplete Digestive System

Single Opening — Mouth और Anus दोनों का काम करता है

Porifera (Intracellular), Coelenterata, Ctenophora, Platyhelminthes

✅ Complete Digestive System

Tube in Tube — अलग Mouth और Anus

Aschelminthes, Annelida, Arthropoda, Mollusca, Echinodermata, Chordata

5

Basis of Coelom

💧 Coelom क्या है?

Body wall और gut wall के बीच fluid-filled body cavity। इसकी lining mesodermal होती है।

❌ Acoelomate

No coelom — कोई body cavity नहीं

E.g.: Porifera, Coelenterate, Ctenophora, Platyhelminthes

〽️ Pseudocoelomate

False coelom — नकली body cavity

E.g.: Nematoda (Aschelminthes)

✅ Eucoelomate

True coelom — असली body cavity

E.g.: Annelida, Aschelminthes, Mollusca, Echinodermata, Chordata

6

Basis of Circulatory System

🔓 Open Circulatory System

  • Blood vessels नहीं होते
  • Blood freely body cavities में flow करता है
  • E.g.: Arthropoda, Mollusca

🔒 Closed Circulatory System

  • Blood हमेशा vessels में रहता है
  • Heart भी vessels से connected
  • E.g.: Annelida, Chordata, Cephalopod Mollusca (Octopus, Squid)
7

Notochord & Segmentation

🦴 Notochord

🔗 Segmentation किसमें होती है?
Annelida + Arthropoda → Segmented body
Chordata → Segmented (internally)
बाकी phyla → Mostly non-segmented
🦠 PHYLUM — INVERTEBRATES (No Backbone)

🟡 1. Porifera — सबसे Simple (Sponges)

  • Habitat: Mostly aquatic, marine | Freshwater: Spongilla
  • Symmetry: Asymmetrical ❌
  • Organization: Cellular level (no true tissues/organs)
  • Germ layer: Diploblastic
  • Movement: Non-motile
  • Body: Tiny pores (Ostium) → large cavity = Spongocoel
  • Special: "Collar cells" | Endoskeleton present
  • Reproduction: Hermaphrodites (both ♂ + ♀)
  • E.g.: Spongilla, Euplectella (glass sponge), Euspongia (bathing sponge)

🪸 2. Coelenterata / Cnidaria

  • Habitat: Aquatic, mostly marine | Freshwater: Hydra
  • Symmetry: Radial
  • Organization: Tissue level
  • Germ layer: Diploblastic
  • Body: Sac-like, single opening (hypostome) = Mouth + Anus
  • Gastrovascular cavity (Coral, Hydra)
  • Special cells: Cnidoblast → Stinging capsule = Nematocyst
  • Exoskeleton: Calcium carbonate
  • Tentacles food capture के लिए
  • E.g.: Jellyfish, Aurelia, Hydra, Coral

🌊 3. Ctenophora

🪱 4. Platyhelminthes (Flat Worms)

  • Body: Dorsoventrally flattened (ribbon जैसा)
  • Symmetry: Bilateral
  • Germ layer: Triploblastic
  • Organization: Organ level
  • Coelom: Acoelomate
  • Digestive: Incomplete (no anus)
  • Excretion: Flame cells से
  • Suckers और hooks कुछ में
  • Hermaphrodites
  • E.g.: Planaria (free-living), Liverfluke (parasitic), Tapeworm

🐛 5. Aschelminthes / Nematodes (Round Worms)

  • Body: Cylindrical, elongated, unsegmented, spindle-shaped
  • Symmetry: Bilateral
  • Germ layer: Triploblastic
  • Coelom: Pseudocoelomate
  • Digestive: Complete (separate mouth + anus)
  • Sexual Dimorphism: Males-females अलग दिखते हैं | Mostly unisexual
  • Excretion: Renette cells
  • E.g.: Ascaris (roundworm), Wuchereria (filarial worm), Ancyclostoma (hookworm)

🪱 6. Annelida (Segmented Worms)

  • Body: Cylindrical, segmented
  • Symmetry: Bilateral | Germ layer: Triploblastic

  • Digestive: Complete (tube-like)
  • Circulatory: Closed
  • Locomotion: Parapodia (Nereis)
  • Excretion: Nephridia
  • E.g.: Earthworm, Leech, Nereis, Hirudinaria

🦂 7. Arthropoda — Largest Phylum!

  • 🏆 Largest phylum in Animal Kingdom
  • Largest class: Insecta
  • Body: Head + Thorax + Abdomen | Jointed legs
  • Exoskeleton: Chitin से
  • Symmetry: Bilateral | Germ layer: Triploblastic
  • Coelom: True, blood से भरा
  • Circulatory: Open
  • Respiration: Gills, Trachea, या Book lungs
  • Excretion: Malpighian tubules
  • E.g.: Spider, Scorpion, Crab, Silverfish, Crayfish

🐚 8. Mollusca — Second Largest Phylum!

  • 🥈 Second largest phylum
  • Body: Soft, little segmentation | Head + Foot + Mantle
  • Covering: Calcareous shell (mostly)
  • Circulatory: Mostly Open | Closed in Octopus & Squid
  • Excretion: Nephridia (kidney-like organs)
  • 🔵 Blue Blood! — Haemocyanin के कारण
  • E.g.: Octopus (Devil fish), Snails (Pila), Oysters, Squid

⭐ 9. Echinodermata (Spiny-skinned)

🦎 PHYLUM CHORDATA — Vertebrates की तरफ

🦴 Phylum Chordata — Key Features

🔬 Sub-Phylum: Protochordata

  • Proper notochord नहीं (only larval stage में या undeveloped)
  • No vertebral column | Post-anal tail present
  • Bilateral, Triploblastic, Coelomate
  • Nerve cord present | Pharyngeal gill slits present
  • Notochord होता है — but vertebral column कभी नहीं बनता

🦴 Sub-Phylum: Vertebrata

  • True vertebral column (Backbone) present
  • Notochord vertebral column से replace होता है
  • 5 Classes: Cyclostomata, Pisces, Amphibia, Reptilia, Aves, Mammalia
⚠️ याद रखें: Hemichordata — Chordata का sub-phylum नहीं है। यह worm-like animals का छोटा group है।
18

Classes of Vertebrates
